Club Presentation Day

From the CEO’s desk

For the best part of a quarter of a century Leon Brooks has been MMM Golf Club’s best player and that proved to be the case again in 2018 with another comprehensive Club Championship victory.

This was the 10th straight year Leon has captured the A Grade title and while he makes it look easy from the outside, that is far from the case.

One of golf’s most appealing and enduring characteristics is that it is ultimately a game played only against yourself and for this reason alone, Leon’s achievement is to be applauded.

And while his on-course performance is impressive, Leon’s off course demeanour is also to be admired as he has not only been the best golfer at the club for many years he has also always proved a fantastic ambassador.

I’m sure you will all join with me in congratulating Leon on a fantastic achievement and we all look forward to seeing if he can continue his run in 2019.

The A Grade title might be the club’s most prestigious honour but the more competitive categories, by sheer weight of numbers, are to be found in B and C Grade.

That proved to be the case again in 2018 with Steve Foster claiming the B Grade trophy by a single stroke over the 72 holes and Alan Cox triumphant by five shots in C Grade.

Congratulations to both players for their well-earned victories and we anticipate a similarly engrossing battle in 2019.
In the nett categories honours went to Mark Maiden in A Grade with nett scores of 64-68-70 and 67 for a 269 total while Ross Hamilton’s 73-57-64-75 for 269 was good for a two shot win in B Grade.
Ron Spencer returned rounds of 69-71-70-66 for a 276 total to take out C Grade.
As always a big thankyou to all our members who do so much to support the club and we look forward to a prosperous 2019.

MMM Club and Golf Course CEO

Below are images of the winners of all trophies from Presentation Day which was held on Saturday, November 24.
Congratulate them all if you see them around the club and best of luck to those not on the podium this year in their efforts in 2019.

Golf Course

The Club is extending the course to 18 Holes. This is being done by contractors who are transferring inert waste from regional council transfer stations.

This project is monitored by the Environmental Protection Authority to ensure that no contamination is imported. The Club sees this as a way of helping the local community achieve a competitive 18 hole Golf course whilst also contributing to recycling. We also believe it will add a further tourist attraction to the region.

The course was previously a 10-hole course with 18 tees played over a distance of 5128 metres for men and 4880 for women. There are two par 5′s, twelve par 4′s and four par 3′s. The course is set in an undulating bushland setting with well maintained fairways and greens. The course’s difficulty level provides a stimulating challenge to golfers of any ability. A feature is the 11th which is 389 metres par four with a water feature immediately before the green.
